MARC BELLEMARE (he/him)

Marc is a professor of applied economics at the University of Minnesota. Marc brings to the board an expertise in volunteer organizations and an interest in giving back to a community that has welcomed him and his family with open arms since he moved to Minnesota in 2013.

 

Marc is McKnight Presidential Chair in Applied Economics, Distinguished McKnight University Professor, Distinguished University Teaching Professor, and Northrop Professor at the University of Minnesota. His research and teaching focus on agricultural economics, applied econometrics, and food policy. He has won multiple research awards over the course of his distinguished award, and in 2023, he was elected Fellow of the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association. His work has been featured in media outlets such as The Economist, The Guardian, the New York Times, National Public Radio, the Wall Street Journal, and the Washington Post.

Marc is also a jazz guitarist. He started playing guitar when he was 13, but he took the opportunity during the covid lockdowns to take jazz more seriously and enroll in and complete a professional certificate in jazz guitar from Berklee Online. Since then, he has performed with various jazz ensembles in different venues across the Twin Cities.
