Director of Drumline Programs
Deondre Carter is a drummer, educator, clinician, composer, and director from Richmond, Virginia.
Deondre marched with Virginia State University’s Marching Trojan Explosion drumline, became a member of Mu Phi Sigma National Percussion Fraternity, Incorporated and Snare S.I. Phi, Incorporated, and is currently an Endorsed Educator Artist for Promark and Beetle Percussion.
He serves as the Assistant Drumline Instructor for Virginia State University’s Marching Trojan Explosion Drumline.
Compositionally, Deondre writes drumline warmups, block music, features, and solos for differing playing abilities in North American and South American drumline programs.
In addition to composing, Deondre travels as a clinician, providing insight, interventions, and technique development to improve drumline programs throughout the US.
In his role at Chops, Deondre supports numerous community-based and scholastic drumline in the Twin Cities Metro Area, making HBCUs and show-style band culture more accessible to Twin Cities youth to bridge cultural impact and relevancy to arts education in Minnesota.
