Come check out the smooth Caribbean vibes at Anwatin Middle School on August 9th, 2025 with special guest steel-drum virtuoso Dr. Josanne Francis! This steel-pan double header features an informative and fun afternoon concert by Josanne Francis. The evening show brings more than 60 steel pan performers to the stage, showcasing three of Minnesota’s premier steel bands together with pan superstar Josanne Francis *and* performers from Women's Drum Center! Award-winning artist, composer and educator Josanne Francis began playing steelpan at age 9 in her native Trinidad & Tobago. She delivers unmatched technical mastery and an energetic and emotional complexity that enchants listeners across the world. Josanne received her master’s degree in steelpan performance from Northern Illinois University, and recently earned a Ph.D. in music education from the University of Maryland. She has taught at venues and institutions across the nation. Come hear her play and learn about her career and this amazing instrument!

Steel drums in Minnesota? You betcha! Nothing says summer fun like a steel-pan concert, and you can be part of the smooth Caribbean vibes as more than 60 performers come together! Three of Minnesota’s premier steel bands join pan virtuoso Josanne Francis on stage in this summer celebration of steel drum music. You’ll be dancing in your seat as you recognize familiar tunes from the Beatles and Bob Marley, plus the *WORLD PREMIERE* of a new song for steel pan by Dr. Francis. C'mon out and support our Pan Campers!
