Calling all Chops supporters! This month only, if you purchase a car wash through this special fundraising page, our friends at Crew Carwash will donate 50% of all profits to Chops! Car washes purchased this month will never expire and are valid at all Crew Carwash locations. You can purchase in person at any location, but must mention Chops in order for us to receive the donation, so we're recommending that all of our supporters purchase via the fundraising page. :)
This month, Chops welcomed two youth interns to our scholastic drumline programs. RightTrack, the City of St. Paul's youth job program, will pay our interns' wages, and Chops received financial support from a generous donor to fund our staff time mentoring the interns. Our March fundraiser with Crew Carwash will round out our budget so we can truly create a memorable and relevant work experience for our two interns.
Program Director Michael Finney was thrilled when one intern applicant (name withheld for privacy) was identified as an alumni of Chops’ Global Arts Middle School drumline program!
“Seeing that name pop up on the applicant list was a dream come true,” said Michael. “Chops' vision is to give our drumline students the confidence and skills to explore careers in music and education. To see that happening so quickly is gratifying."
Our interns began orientation last week and will soon begin working alongside our drumline instructors. They will also have the opportunity to observe a Chops board meeting in April and meet with Chops' Executive Director in March to learn about nonprofit management. Chops' spring internship program wraps up May 8th with a final celebration and presentation from the interns.
