JOSHUA BEDEAU (he/him)
Guest Artist, Pan Outreach Program
Joshua Bedeau’s musical journey began at the age of five when he joined Golden Hands Steel Orchestra in Trinidad and Tobago. At Golden Hands, he was introduced to the steelpan and other percussive instruments. Under the tutelage of Franka Hills-Headley and Vanessa Alexandra Headley, Bedeau has traveled with Golden Hands throughout the Caribbean and the United States, winning many awards and competitions in the process.
In 2015, he was accepted into the Birch Creek Summer Music Programme in Wisconsin. This experience changed the way he viewed music, as he was exposed to different musical cultures from around the world.
In 2021, Bedeau released his debut single entitled "Calcite", a musical contribution that was the result of an incredible year in his life. Also in 2021, he completed his Bachelor’s Degree with a specialization in steelpan performance (with honors) and is now a graduate assistant at Northern Illinois University where he is pursuing a Master's of Music.
